Barleywine

Barleywine

The Barleywine beer category began as a deeply malty, high strength ale from England. Americans make a version that has more hops added, because, of course they do. Barleywines are so named as they are a showcase of intense malted barley and have wine-like alcohol strength. These powerful and complex beers have flovours of brown bread, caramel, honey, molasses and toffee.

We have two absolute bangers in the store at the moment. From Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley and Little Bang out of Adelaide. If you are looking for a delicious sipper but aren't interested in stouts at the moment, these are the answer. Of course these beauties age gracefully too, so don't hesitate to stash a few away in a dark place for winter too.
