Clonakilla is a brand that is no stranger to any Australian wine lover.
Located at Murrumbateman, between Canberra and Yass, this cool climate winery is one of Australia's finest. This week we have received two new wines that were added to their stable. A Chardonnay from northern Tasmania and a Shiraz from the Eden Valley in South Australia. Losing all your fruit to bushfires is devastating, having amazing grape growers you can access fruit from makes it a little bit easier.
These wines are all class. They are a testament to the winemaker's efforts, it isn't just all about fruit quality, these wines allow Tim Kirk and his team to really showcase their skills. They taste classically of their regions, but have Clonakilla fingerprints all over them.
Sadly earlier this month Clonakilla was once again ravaged by mother nature, massive storms rolling through the region causing huge amounts of damage to the vineyards. Time will tell, but I expect the 2022 vintage will see some more winemaking wizardry from Clonakilla using the best fruit they can source.
