International Chardonnay Day

International Chardonnay Day

As today is all about Chardonnay, here's a few of our favourite that we think are worth a taste. They are from the cool climates of Australia; regions renowned for Chardonnay.

Willem Kurt 'Beechworth' Chardonnay ($39)
This is one of our best selling chardonnays in our Albury store. It has rich and variety flavours of citrus, passionfruit and nectarine. Occasional lees stirring over twelve months and some malo lactic conversion has created complexity and richness that is absolutely devine.

Printhie 'Orange' Chardonnay ($25)
A cool climate example with generous, ripe fruit flavours and the subtle influence of oak. A lactic mid-palate adds texture, lively natural acidity maintains freshness.

Clonakilla 'Tumburumba' Chardonnay ($52)
This Chardonnay is sourced from two of the Johansen family’s vineyards in Tumbarumba, sitting between 700 and 720 metres above sea level. From the cool 2022 vintage, a fine-boned, citrus-edged Chardonnay with subtle floral and almond meal notes. Elegant and bright with the classic Tumbarumba mineral acid backbone.

Lambert 'Yarra Valley' Chardonnay ($57)
A delight to just smell, let alone drink, the stony Denton soils shine through scents of ripe citrus fruits and white flowers. Texturally too, it is simply gorgeous, with compact, chalky weight aligned to lithe acidity, a whisper of grip and pent-up energy. Poised, driven and sustained, it’s Yarra Valley Chardonnay at the peak of its powers.
