International Women’s Day takes place this Friday the 8th of March. It's a day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. And in our case the successes of fantastic women producing incredible Wine and Beer.
In the local wine scene (to name a few) we have the likes of Nadja Wallington (of ChaLou / Somm & the Winemaker), Samantha May (of Samantha May Wines), and Nicole Samodol (of Rowlee Wines) each producing premium local wines. From further afield we have (again to name a few) Natalie Fryar (of Bellebonne), Alysha Moscatt & Lucy Kendall(Allevare Wines), and Tillie Johnson (Tillie J Wines), each pushing the boundaries, and putting their wine labels on the map!
In the beer department, we have local Bathurst legends Reckless Brewing (the largest majority women owned Brewery in Australia!) fronted by head brewer and co-founder Grace Fowler. Our fridges are rarely seen without at least 10 delicious offerings from Reckless, including the soon to be released ‘Matilda’ Cold XPA. To be released in conjunction with International Women’s Day with all profits going to the ‘Central West Women’s Health Centre’.
