Negroamaro – an ancient red grape variety indigenous to Southern Italy, (specifically Puglia in the stiletto heel of Italy’s boot), was established on our shores by Chalmer’s Nursery in Victoria in 2017.
The relative new guy in Australian wines, Negroamaro is a high tannin, deep hued, and full-bodied wine. Growing regions include McLaren Vale, Mudgee, and SA’s Riverland.
We’ve received Coriole’s 2023 Negroamaro in store recently, and at a mere $30 there is a lot of bang for your dollar.
Receiving 93 points from Halliday, Coriole’s drop is described as having good length, with cherry, sour plum, and baking spice notes across the board.
Nicely dry, the Coriole Negroamaro is a great pairing with rich pastas and cured meats – very in the spirit of Puglian foods.
