Nick Spencer has achieved a lot in a relatively short time. Traveling the world as a flying winemaker, including many years working in Georgia, then working for some top Aussie wineries. He was head winemaker at Eden Road wines in Canberra for over a decade, it was here he won the 2009 Jimmy Watson Trophy, was nominated for Gourmet Traveller 'Winemaker of the Year' and won the trophy for Best Red Wine at the National Wine Show.
Now he is out on his own making wines under his own name. Nick has chosen to champion the regions of Tumbarumba for his white wines and Gundagai for his reds. He has chosen very wisely, the fabulous quality of the fruit coming out of these two winegrowing areas, right on our doorstep, has only just begun to be appreciated.
I'll certainly be drinking some chilled bottles of his Gundagai grown, Light Dry Red this summer.
