One Drop Brewing

We have seen a steady increase of new technologies being adopted by brewers in recent years. I suspect we will see a lot more as competition drives innovation and brewers fight for room in an increasingly crowded craft beer market.

Recently we received some beers from One Drop Brewing in Botany, Sydney. An amazing brewery, always pushing the boundaries and making some striking beers. Anyone who has tasted their Double Vanilla Custard Pancake Imperial Nitro Thickshake IPA will know what I mean.

The latest beers were made using their new Clean Fusion™ technology. This technology removes the particulates that are suspended in the beer (such as yeast cells, hop break, proteins etc), helping them to get more character out of the hops when they dry hop the beer, amplifying the flavours and aromas.

They then use the Clean Fusion™ again to remove the suspended hop particles from the beer before it is packaged. This reduces the polyphenol load in the beer, which results in lower astringency. More hop flavour and aroma but without as much of the drying/burn at the back of the throat.

One Drop claim Clean Fusion™ helps them make better beer and we are all for that. Does it work? There is only one way to find out for sure.
