It’s about damn time we talk about PaNa, a new little love project from Naomi and Paul Martung.
You may have heard about these two young guns smashing it in the Orange wine scene over the past few years and well they finally put their skills into two funky bottles of class and distinction.
Paul is originally from Bordeaux and has been working with the man himself- Will Rikard Bell- at Rikard wines since 2015. He has also spent a few good years at Lowe Wines in Mudgee.
Naomi learnt her craft previously working besides Nadja Wallington at Philip Shaw and since then has moved onto Printhie and crushing it there. We couldn’t have been more excited when these two talents announced their own release, and we must say these bottles are something that’s definitely worth trying. PaNa’s aim is to make wine the simplest way possible but with different techniques, like carbonic maceration, skin contact, always using very nice quality oak.
The 2018 Cabernet Franc spent 24 months in 40% French new oak with 30% carbonic maceration, with grapes from Boree Lane Vineyard. We believe this one is a classic, and something that is ready to crack open now. We got most excited when we saw their 2018 Cabernet Franc and Gewürztraminer blend. Basically, a barrel of Cab Franc refermented onto Gewürz skins. This creates an extremely aromatic wine, something we found interesting to try. So, if like us, you like supporting new upcoming local winemakers come on in and get your hands on these goodies!
