We were incredibly lucky to have a staff tasting recently of the ‘Winemakers Selection Vat 9’ 2019 Shiraz, poured by none other than Jane Tyrrell of the Hunter Valley's Tyrrell’s Wines. It’s safe to say that we were seriously impressed and had to get some.
Vat 9 Shiraz is sourced from the oldest and best blocks on the Tyrrell Estate ‘Ashmans’, where the oldest vines date back to 1892. All of these blocks feature soils that are ideal for growing super-premium Shiraz. The result as summed up by Ned Goodwin of the ‘Wine Companion’ who awarded the wine 95 points… “sappy, floral, detailed and dangerously drinkable”.
