93 Points "Winemaker Ben Crossing from Angullong is stepping outside of the comfort zone here with a highly unusual blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano which work beautifully together, crafting a wine just a whisper off 94 points. Bright mid ruby in colour, the aromatics are multilayered but also reserved with a gentle upfront impact so you need to dive deep to find all of its subtle layers. But if you do you will find charming dark cherry, tar, and new leather aromas well matched to coffee grounds scented oak. It comes to life on the palate which is dry, juicy and mouth filling, fleshy red fruits and dried herbs with delightful energy, balance and freshness driving a long and vibrant finish with chewy tannins underneath also promising an exciting future ahead. A great food wine for slow cooked lamb shanks." Winepilot, Angus Hughson
