Politini 'Lightning Strike' Merlot

In 2014, row 1 of our Merlot Block was stuck by lightning, remarkably close to the house. It made the leaves of the vines turn to a beautiful but disturbing red, most of the vines in that row died as a result. In the following year, the vines that survived produced a little fruit, we made a point of picking the fruit from that row and put it in with the rest. This bottle represents a part of that blend. Deep ruby red in colour with an enticing bouquet of ripe plum, raspberries and a whiff of cloves fill the glass. The tannins are soft, silky and smooth. Oak maturation has made the mid palate, broader and given the wine an enticing vanilla sweet palate and fruity finish.
